Western Monmouth towns align to share services

Manalapan Mayor Andrew Lucas is leading an effort he hopes will help western Monmouth County mayors share services and information to benefit their towns.

He said he recently organized the Western Monmouth Mayors Council to be "a great driver in allowing our mayors to deliver the best services to their residents in the most cost-efficient manner possible."

Participating officials will be able to discuss the needs their municipalities have in common, as well as services they might share to save money, Lucas said. They also may work together to support state legislation affecting their towns, he said.

Lucas, Marlboro Mayor Robert Kleinberg, Freehold Township Mayor Dorothy Avallone and Committeeman Anthony Ammiano and Colts Neck deputy Mayor Ben Forrester attended the group's first meeting Feb.
